Out of School Time
Children spend many hours each day in school, but we need to ensure time spent out of school is healthy and supporting their growth and development. It’s important that children have safe, fun and engaging opportunities before and after school as well as during the summer months.
Community Based Organizations – There are a multitude of providers that offer after school and summer programming. From the Y, Boys & Girls Club, R Centers, to those offered through the Rochester City School District, there are many opportunities for children to take part in.
The Greater Rochester After-School Alliance is a volunteer committee comprised of funders, policymakers, researchers, and after-school family and provider representatives. GRASA's goal is to strengthen the quality, quantity, and accessibility of out-of-school-time programs in Monroe County for school-age youth through community collaboration.
Summer Meals Partnership of Rochester – This partnership brings together multiple stakeholders with the vision of providing every child in the City of Rochester with access to free, healthy meals and a safe place to have fun and learn, all summer long.
Afterschool Alliance – The Alliance works with a broad range of organizations and supporters, including policymakers and policymaker associations, advocacy groups, afterschool coalitions and providers at every level, business and philanthropic leaders, technical assistance organizations and leaders representing a variety of interests, each with a stake in afterschool.
