Your Childcare Provider

 



Make sure your kid’s childcare provider is on board with your 5-2-1-0 goals.

 

Look for a place that:  

  • Schedules at least one hour every day of heart-pumping active play—all year round. 

  • Has a Plan B for playtime when weather is bad. 

  • Keeps play equipment safe and up-to-date. (Learn more from the American Academy of Pediatrics.) 

  • Limits TV and computer time. No more than two hours is best. 

  • Serves low-fat snacks including fruits and veggies that are healthy for kids and offers water and low-fat or skim plain milk instead of juice and soda. 

  • Has staff that play and eat with your kids.

Tip of the Day 5

All forms of fruit count-- fresh, frozen, canned, dried or 100% juice. They make easy, healthy snacks too!
