How do I know if my kids are at a healthy weight?
Understanding if your child is at a healthy weight can be tricky. The best person to ask is your pediatrician. At least yearly, your child's pediatrician should calculate theri body mass index or BMI by using their height and weight. BMI is a common measure used to express the relationship between a person’s weight and their height. BMI for children is specified according to the child’s sex and age. You can calculate your child's BMI by entering some basic information.
Growth Charts and Percentiles
Girls | Boys
BMI-for-age percentiles shows how your child's weight compares to that of other children of the same age and sex. for example, a BMI-for-age percentile of 65% means that the child's wieght is greater than 65% of other children of the same age and sex.
