When Khaya found out a Yoga instructor was going to visit his first grade classroom he got very excited and asked over and over when they were finally going to be able to learn.

Not only does Nya follow a healthy lifestyle she also inspires others to do the same. She is a leader on her school's step team. It was her coach who nominated her as a healthy hero kid because of the way she helped her teammates.

Javon Jackson Jada Walker
Javon is a passionate sports athlete who plays on his school’s football team, wrestles, and currently runs track and field. He is also a mentor to his classmates. Jada knows the importance of eating at least five fruits or vegetables each day. In fact, this summer, at the Harley School she even learned to grow her own vegetable garden during the Horizons summer program.

Tony Arnold is a 6th grader at RCSD school no. 4 and enjoys getting active every day. Kaylie Quintana is an enthusiastic 3rd grader at Helen Barrett Montgomery School No. 50. Whether the sun is shining or the snow is blowing, she loves to stay active outside.

 Jacob Alvarez is a 6th grader at the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School (EMHCS).  Jacob knows that being active is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. Kindergarteners at Clara Barton School Number 2 are great healthy examples to others. The kids get in at least one hour of active play each day, even when it’s too cold to go outside.

Charles Finley IV is a dedicated second grader at Martin B. Anderson School No. 1. To stay healthy Charles loves to play sports, especially hockey. During the winter months, Charles plays defense for the Rochester Youth Hockey Junior Amerks and volunteers as goalie for the Genesee Youth Hockey Club.

Xavier Rizzo is a fun-loving third grader at Dr. Walter Cooper Academy School No. 10 who enjoys getting active both at home and at school. He loves playing floor hockey, soccer and throwing the football around with his dad at the park near their house.

The daily goals of Be A Healthy Hero 5•2•1•0 are:

5 – Five servings of fruits and vegetable

2 – No more than two hours of TV, computer, or video games

1 – At least one hour of heart-pumping active play

0 – No sugary beverages (no soda, sports drinks, etc.)
