  Remember when I said that we have to eat healthier if we want our children to eat healthy? Well, it's the same with physical activity. If our children see us move, they will want to move too! More importantly, healthy, active moms are happy moms- and happy moms are better moms.

There is a great group out there for moms who want to exercise more, make friends and help their community, It's called Moms in Motion. This group is international and you can be a part of it online or with other moms in your community. Rochester already has one Moms in Motion team that you can join, or you can start your own with your friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Moms in Motion team members pay a $65 fee for the first year which covers your team uniform and members-only access to your team's website. Some teams pay more if they have guest speakers, events and community discounts.

Moms are so busy balancing home, work, relationships, and child care, that our personal health is put on the back burner. However, we need to realize that if we are sick and unhealthy, our home, relationships, work, and children will suffer! Finding some "me time" is always an issue. If we do find the time, we usually feel guilty about taking it. Don't! We are a much better role model for our kids if we are taking care of ourselves.

  • Make time for daily physical activity (make it fun)
  • Eat healthy foods most of the time
  • Set aside time for your adult relationships
  • Be mindful of your spiritual health
  • Try for 7-8 hours of sleep when possible

So move it ladies! It's time to take care of us!
